Your Transcription Foot Pedal
Although a transcription foot pedal isn't a crucial priority on your list of transcription tools, a good working foot pedal might be the key to speeding up your work. Express Scribe will work without a transcription foot pedal simply by using keyboard hot keys.
Personally, I don't find that very simple at all because every time I move my fingers away from the keys to use a hot key, I lose my place. My fingers end up on the wrong keys what I type I don't think an alien could decipher! Some transcriptionists work for years without a transcription foot pedal, but you'll find you can work a lot faster if you keep your fingers moving on the transcript and let your foot do the stop-start-rewinding on the audio. While there seem to be a variety of good foot pedals by different manufacturers that will do the job, the Infinity brands are the most popular and most widely used. The most often used models are the ones listed and pictured below:
IN-USB-1-Foot-Pedal
This pedal works excellent with the older versions of ExpressScribe, up to version 4.23. I have this pedal now in fact and love it. However, when I upgraded to the newer version of ExpressScribe, 4.36, ES would not recognize my foot pedal. I would guess that if I purchased the USB-2 foot pedal below, it would have been compatible with the newer version of ES. But I like my foot pedal ; it works great and there's no need to replace that. So I just found my previous version of ES online and downloaded it and all is well!!
IN-USB-2-Foot-Pedal

Also a USB cable foot pedal and should work well with versions of ES 4.36 and newer.
IN-DB9-Foot-Pedal
This is the 9-pin serial computer cable model that plugs into the game port of your computer, like where you would plug in a joy stick. If you're short on USB ports, this pedal will work well with most PC-based software applications. In fact this is the pedal I used up until this year when I decided to go with a USB pedal instead.
IN-BMG-Foot-Pedal

This is the 15-pin serial computer cable model. Again, if you're short on USB ports, this pedal will work well with most PC-based software applications.
