The Start-Stop Time Stamp Function

Using Start-Stop PowerPlay

Start-Stop is an audio playback software program used by some transcriptionists as an alternative to ExpressScribe.

The system "is a pedal-controlled PC transcription system that plays a wide range of file formats with a focus on workflow and efficiency. It is designed to be easy-to-use for both advanced and amateur transcriptionists."

You can visit their website for more information about their software program, its features and price ranges.

Time stamping documents is required by some clients as a tool to follow along from the hard copy document to the audio file. This is especially useful also for transcriptionists if there's something in the audio you can't quite understand when you listen to it the first time.

Simply time stamp the document and move on in your transcript, then when you proof the transcript, you can quickly go back to the audio and listen to just that one section again because you've documented where it was.

But when you're working with multiple audio files that will comprise one document, it can get tricky knowing where one audio file ends and another begins when each audio file will actually begins at zero.

So our video will use an "offset" function so that the times move along continuously.

Now let's watch the video!
