I have a client that wants me to transcribe from a digital video. What's the best way to do that?

Converting from tape to digital

Actually if the video will open and play in Windows Media Player, you can listen to it and transcribe it with Express Scribe. You won't be able to see anything, obviously, but you'll be able to transcribe what you hear.

If you need to see the people in the video for reasons of clarifying who is speaking or if they're using slides or some type of visual presentation, there are two top software programs that are the most widely used in general transcription that you can purchase and download. One is InqScribe, which allows you to view and transcribe in the same window. You can visit their site at www.inqscribe.com

The other is the Start-Stop PowerPlay Video/DVD Transcriber System. Start-Stop is like an all-in-one program allowing you to play and transcribe DVDs, Audio CDs, digital video and audio files.
