How to convert my cassette tapes

by Sue
(New Mexico)

I have a client who still use cassette tapes but I want to convert them to digital. Is this hard to do and how would I do it?

Converting from tape to digital
by: Karen

This isn't hard to do at all. Here's how:

1. Go to Radio Shack and ask for a cable that connects from the headphone on your cassette transcription unit (works for standard, micro or mini tape transcriber units), into the microphone plug on your computer.

2. Open your Audacity recording program and set the program to record from Microphone (in the drop-down box).

3. Click on Audacity's Record button at the same time as you click on the transcriber unit's Play button.

After you're done recording, simply export the file and open it in Express Scribe to transcribe.
