What Is Dictation Transcription?

Dictation transcription transcribing from an audio where one speaker recorded notes, a journal, instructions, chapters of a book, just about anything while alone.

What's nice about digital dictation transcription is that most of the time the speaker already knows that the recorded material is going to be transcribed so you usually get better quality audio to transcribe from.

Your client will often go the extra mile to user a higher quality recording device, avoid background noises and interference and try not to stutter or stumble so much over his words, thereby ensuring the transcriptionist receives the highest quality of audio available. And the speaker, your client, will in turn receive the highest quality transcript of his material.

Also, since the speaker knows ahead of time that the material will be transcribed, the speaker providing straight dictation will usually also try to speak clearly and audibly so the typist can pick up every word without a problem.

The other great thing about this type of transcription is it seems to go much faster, easier and smoother because you're only listening to one voice and not two or more speaking over each other.

Occasionally though, you will get the speed talker or mumbler, or someone who will record at a busy Starbucks over their first cup of morning coffee. It can't be helped! Just make sure you suggest to your client that they try and pick a quieter venue for the next recording.
