You Need to Advertise Your Business to Get Clients!

Okay, you have your equipment, your software, now to advertise your transcription business so you can get clients. How do you get your clients to call you? How do you let the world know “Hey, I’m Open for Business!”?

Online advertising is absolutely one of the best ways to get the word out about your new general transcription business, especially since general transcription is primarily an online business. Everything is done digitally.

Your client makes a digital recording or you've digitally recorded something from the Web for a client. You've loaded the audio file into Express Scribe, transcribed it into Word and will email the document to your client.

All digital, all electronic and all done via the Internet. So advertise your business online first.

And the best way to do that is to build an informative website that will attract targeted traffic, which means attracting clients who need your services.

If you want to get local clients that live in your city, town, county or state, you can run an ad in your local paper or buy a Yellow Pages directory ad. But you will actually find that building a good informative website will ultimately attract the best clients, including your local clients.

As for offline advertising, I consulted with some associates of mine who have a few years of experience in the virtual assistant field and the consensus is that offline advertising is best done by simple word-of-mouth referrals and business cards.

So save your money and advertise your business just by talking about what you do and always have professional business cards on hand when you do it!

In addition to all of the free advertising resources available online, be sure to take advantage of a couple of the key professional networking sites that are used by the top online marketers.

And we show you on our marketing page what those top resources are!

Advertising Resources:
Business Cards
Business cards are much more than little pieces of card stock paper with your business name and phone number. Here are 11 ways to make them work for you!

Build a Website
There is every reason to have a professional business website today and no reason not to. Just don't build a free one!

Email Signatures
Your email signature or your Sig file is a powerful and free tool to use on a consistent basis.

Got all your transcription tools? Here's your Checklist:
Your Computer System
You need to make sure your computer is up to date, not more than five years old, if that.

Audio Playback Software
Turn your computer into an online digital transcriber unit with this software, headset and a foot pedal that plug into your computer.

Word Processing Software
You need somewhere to transcribe all of that information into and plain old Notepad, Wordpad or even Microsoft Works won't cut it.

Transcription Headset
Don't try to decipher your audio through computer speakers. No matter how good you think they, there is no substitute for a good noise-cancelling headset.

Transcription Foot Pedal
Keep your fingers moving on the transcript and let your foot do the stop-start-rewind on the audio.
